The second stage of the walk winds along a mountain route, from the Diecimare refuge – recently renovated – to the hamlet of SS. Annunziata, crossing the delightful ridges of the Salerno Mountains system, characterised by woods, peaks and plateaus situated between two valleys, with views ranging from the sea to the nearby Lattari and Picentini Mountains. The route also includes the short detour to the Castle of S. Auditore.
The route presents no particular difficulties, other than those related to crossing a few low-traffic urban roads and walking along wooded sections. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, dress in layers, and bring a hat and a few spare items of clothing (socks, t-shirt). Water fountains are only available at the start and the finish, so it is useful to bring a water bottle of at least 2 litres. If you intend to walk several consecutive stages of the trail, check the availability of accommodation along the route. It is advisable to download the route tracks onto your phone and install one of the main hiking apps (OSMand, Locus Map, Komoot, Strava) to follow the correct path.
