The High Street of the Villages is the ancient connecting route that linked the small hamlets of the internal Amalfi Coast. A historical path made of staircases, mule tracks and short stretches of trail, which crosses terraced fields, lemon groves, scattered houses and rural clusters that have remained almost intact. Walking along it, one perceives the original structure of the territory: a network of passages that allowed inhabitants to move between villages, reach the fields, exchange goods and access the mountain passes towards Agerola and the Dragon Valley. It is a slow itinerary, rich in glimpses of the sea and the valleys, where the natural and agricultural landscapes still coexist in balance. Upon arriving in Conca de’ Marini, it is possible to conclude the excursion with the descent and ascent to the beach of the Furore Fjord, adding about 2.8 km to the route and an elevation change of about 180 m uphill and 180 m downhill. This extra stretch allows you to cross one of the most evocative landscapes of the Coast, among rock faces, stone bridges and the spectacular entrance to the fjord, offering an immersive finale of great scenic value.
The route is quite short, moderately challenging due to the presence of steps, but overall the elevation gain is compatible with that of a medium/easy level hike. Upon reaching Conca de’ Marini, it is possible to conclude the excursion with the descent and ascent to the beach of the Fjord of Furore, extending it by about 2.8 km and an elevation gain of about 180 m uphill and 180 m downhill. There are some stretches on tarmac roads with moderate traffic intensity. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, dress in layers, bring a hat and a few spare items of clothing (socks, t-shirt). There are public drinking fountains along the route, so it is useful to bring a water bottle of at least 1L. If you intend to walk several consecutive stages of the trail, check the availability of accommodation along the route. It is recommended to download the route tracks onto your phone and install one of the main hiking apps (OSMand, Locus Map, Komoot, Strava) to follow the correct path.
