The route climbs steeply from the terraced slopes of Conca dei Marini, crossing a dense system of staircases, ancient rural pathways and small scattered hamlets. The ascent is steady and progressive along old mule tracks, with increasingly wide views over the coast and the slopes below until reaching the plateau of San Lazzaro, where the landscape opens up and the gradient eases. The final stretch leads towards Bomerano, on the edge of Agerola, passing through a more rural and less rugged environment, typical of the plateau. It finally arrives at Pianillo, near the Church of Santa Maria La Manna. It is a rather demanding route, characterised by a steep change in elevation, continuous shifts in perspective and a gradual transition from the coastal landscape to the mountain one.
The uphill elevation gain of this stage is concentrated in the initial part, where it leaves the coast and climbs back up towards the hamlets that make up the village of Agerola. Once you reach San Lazzaro, the route becomes gentler, passing through small urban centres characterised by gardens. A certain amount of effort is required due to the overall length of the route and the initial elevation gain. It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes, dress in layers, and bring a hat and a few spare items of clothing (socks, T-shirt). There are a few public drinking fountains along the route, so it is useful to bring a water bottle of at least 1L. If you intend to walk several consecutive stages of the trail, check the availability of accommodation along the route. It is advisable to download the route tracks onto your phone and install one of the main hiking apps (OSMand, Locus Map, Komoot, Strava) to follow the correct route.
